Follow the step-by-step instructions below to create a magical, homemade canopy bed for your little princess. Don’t worry, everything will be explained simply, so you don’t need a degree in DIY. Your children can certainly help with this project. Allow 1 to 2 hours to complete.

1 The Necessary Materials
To design your princess’s bed canopy, 3 things will be needed:
- a small hoop of 60-70 cm (plastic, wood or metal)
- two small colored curtains (sheer style)
- and a single rope
Choose the curtain colours and hoop style according to your child’s age and tastes.
If you don’t have curtains, hoops, or rope, don’t panic; you can easily find them online. Here are inexpensive, high-quality hoops , curtains , and ropes .
2 Construction
Now we’re getting down to business; it’s time to assemble our three components. It’s going to be a little technical, so pay close attention. Read the instructions carefully, and everything will be fine!
Firstly, for aesthetic reasons, we recommend painting or spray-painting the chosen hoop. Give it a light color, or one that perfectly matches the canopy curtains and your child’s room.
Next, you’ll create an opening in the hoop by cutting it with a craft knife or scissors, so you can thread your curtains through it. Basically, the rings should slide inside the circle.
If you are unable or unwilling to cut your hoop, use clothespins or small pieces of string and hold your curtains directly onto them.
Once that’s done, make the whole thing harmonious by adjusting the curtains.
Finally, attach the rope 3-4 times to the hoop, so that it can be hung properly afterwards.
There you go! Your princess’s bed canopy is finished… No, just kidding, there’s one last thing to do and the result will be truly magical!
3 The Final Decoration
We’ve reached the final stage. Probably the most fun, the one that will encourage your artistic thinking. Because we’re suggesting you embellish your bed canopy with decorations and other little gems!
